Way To Prove My Point Dude

Surprisingly, the comments section on my latest letter did NOT go to hell in a handbasket.

It went to SUPERHELL.

A REAL MAN wrote:

If these ladies did not go around looking like young hookers all the time there would probablybe less rapes, and not to mention women drinking so much. I DO NOT THINK A WOMAN’S POOR CHOICE GIVES HER THE RIGHT TO KILL!

Heather wrote:

People really cant get that this in no way redefines rape. Anytime concent is not given its a forced act hence ‘forcable rape’. Also check the stats a very VERY slim amount of rapes result in pregnancy because the body is under such stress both physicaly and emotionally. Most abortions are pregnancys that result from concensual sex, and frankly I do not want a penny of my money used to kill an innocent baby cus chicky couldnt keep her legs closed! (note I did not say in rape cases I said in consenual cases) We all know what birth control is and how to use it. As far as it being a ‘woman choice what to do with her body’ fine, but its not your body that you are killing now is it?

Look at it this way– these fine ladies and gentlemen have single-handedly proven my thesis. It’s the “pro-rape” movement now. Pass it on.

They also help prove the point that pro-rapists are all morons, as evidence by the toting of the already discredited Lila Rosesting.”

If you don’t think women ask for it by wearing skirts and shouldn’t have to keep their legs shut all the time, won’t you please donate?

The notion that women use abortion as birth control is not very well thought out. Why would a woman prefer a potentially life threatening procedure over a small pill? I makes no sense, and you would have to be an idiot to think like that.

Furthermore, Freakonomics has shown us the results of allowing women to choose their mothering years. The evidence speaks for itself.

Lastly, the idea that abortion is murder, and the “baby” has a soul at conception is insane.

Either the unborn baby is terminated, causing your so called friend “God” to forgive the babies soul due to innocence, or the baby is forced to be born and raised in an unwelcoming home, causing the child to grow up with “sin”, decreasing their chances of being “saved” very much.

So all you anti-abortionist should look at the death penalty or war, and let the babies get saved, less you try to save it yourself and ruin everything for them. If I believed in the whole Heaven and Hell mythology I would be angry at the anti-abortionists, doing the most harm to the unborn than anyone. However I don’t, so I will say that you all should read a ‘different book’ once in a while.

That was something I never got even as a child. If you thought life was a sinful suckfest and heaven was awesome, why live? That applies to everything else besides abortion, too. Funerals would be like a party (at least the Good Christian(tm ones)) because hey! Heaven.

That’s not the case, obviously. Funerals are sad affairs because we know deep down that, barring Ray Kurzweil discovering immortality, the person isn’t coming back. And with abortions, the person doesn’t even exist until it’s viable outside the womb.

Fun food for thought: if a woman knows that any pregnancy she has will miscarry, yet she has intercourse, can she be arrested for endangering a child? Negligent homicide? Manslaughter?

One more thing- the problem isn’t that they only read one book. Oh no. They don’t even read that one.

      Exodus 21:22-23
If an attack on a woman causes a miscarriage the attacker must pay a fine. If he causes serious damage to the mother it’s “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”. This indicates that a fetus does not have equal standing under God’s law.

      Leviticus 27:6
Monetary values are assigned to lives according to age and gender. Lives under one month old have no value.

      Numbers 5:21-21, 27-28
A potion given to the Israelites by God is used to determine paternity. If the father is not the husband, an abortion occurs. god clearly places no value on a fetus that is not the result of union between husband and wife.

      Genesis 38:24
God’s law states that if a woman is pregnant and is to be executed there is to be no waiting for the fetus to be born. It is counted as part of the mother and she burned to death with it still in her womb.

God’s more pro-abortion than even the most hardcore pro-choicer. Up to a month after birth?!? Criminy.

        Genesis 38:24-29
        <>
24 About three months later Judah was told, “Tamar your daughter-in-law has been immoral. [1] Moreover, she is pregnant by immorality.” [2] And Judah said, “Bring her out, and let her be burned.” 25 As she was being brought out, she sent word to her father-in-law, “By the man to whom these belong, I am pregnant.” And she said, “Please identify whose these are, the signet and the cord and the staff.” 26 Then Judah identified them and said, “She is more righteous than I, since I did not give her to my son Shelah.” And he did not know her again.

27 When the time of her labor came, there were twins in her womb. 28 And when she was in labor, one put out a hand, and the midwife took and tied a scarlet thread on his hand, saying, “This one came out first.” 29 But as he drew back his hand, behold, his brother came out. And she said, “What a breach you have made for yourself!” Therefore his name was called Perez. [3]

God didn’t say anything here about burning a pregnant woman to death.

On Leviticus 27:6, the values are not based on the value of a human life but on the benefit of the work that can be done in an agriculture based society. Young healthy men can work more than an elderly person or an infant.

It has nothing to do with the value of life. It was a dedication of a person for service to God. It wasn’t a value placed on human life.

Numbers 5:21 The potion makes the woman barren, it says nothing about killing a baby it doesn’t say that she is pregnant, just that she has been unfaithful.

You’re right.Hey are condoms immoral? How about any type of ejaculation that doesn’t end in fertilization?

    • February 9, 2011 at 1:13 am

Of course it is! Every sperm is sacred.

I wonder if, assuming my miscarrying lady example could be charged with negligent homicide, if the same charge can be applied to a guy who had his netbook on his lap for too long.

(Oh wait, that’s a silly question. He’s a man, of course not.)

Another funny anecdote: About a million years ago on About.com’s atheism forum, I was involved in an argument over male circumcision. One woman dismissed the anti-circumcision side’s argument, to paraphrase, “He’s less than a day old. He’s not going to remember the pain, for pete’s sake. Bleeding heart hippie commie pinko liberals ahsjjdjdjjdnd…”

The funny thing was, she was the forum’s resident fundie troll who would often feign concern about “fetal pain” with regards to abortion.

Oopsie, you just poked a hole in your own belief system. You think she’d be against circumcision if they did it in utero?

I had completely forgotten about that until this comment thread.

You know that tiny little pill that prevents children? It makes me physically ill. One pill and I puke for days. I’ve tried seven different kinds of it and barfed them all. The patch you say? Puked for 3 days and caused immense pain upon the four different spots I placed it on my body. That lovely black-listed shot? Made me bleed for months. IUD perhaps? Like I want a baby born with a plastic or copper wire in its skull? So, what are we up to.. The ring? You can actually lose that. Same with the condom;) I did the abstinence thing for a few years. But, you know accidents DO happen and can happen at really unfortunate times in our lives. It’s a relief to know that we still do have options. I say, thanks God, ole buddy, for giving me the option of what I do with my body. Gotta love that free will!

    From CARM:

perhaps the strongest argument against abortion from Scripture is the fact that the same punishment is applicable to someone who kills or injures an unborn child as for one who kills or injures an adult. Exodus 21:22-23 states, “If men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she gives birth prematurely, yet there is no injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman’s husband may demand of him, and he shall pay as the judges decide. But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life . . . .” This strongly indicates that the Mosaic Law viewed the unborn as persons worthy of the same protection and rights as adults.
